Frequently Asked Questions
ICONA Yacht Frequently Asked Questions
What time should we arrive?
Please plan to arrive 20–30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. This allows plenty of time for traffic, parking, check-in, and getting settled. Our cruises depart promptly as scheduled.
Should we bring sunscreen or bug spray?
Yes. While the yacht offers plenty of shaded seating, the sun can be stronger on the water, so sunscreen is recommended. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, insects may also be present, so bringing bug spray is a good idea.
Should we bring a jacket or sweatshirt?
Yes. Even on warm days, temperatures on the water are often 5–8 degrees cooler, especially during evening cruises. A light jacket, sweatshirt, or sweater is recommended.
What about food and drinks? Can we bring our own?
Food and beverages are available for purchase through our booking website and must be pre-ordered before your cruise.
Outside food and beverages—including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks—are not permitted. Complimentary bottled water is provided on board.
Do you go into the ocean?
Our cruises operate exclusively in the back bays and Intracoastal Waterway. Routes are selected by the captain and management based on weather, tides, and the best cruising conditions.
Is smoking or vaping allowed?
Smoking and vaping of any kind, including tobacco and marijuana, are prohibited on board.
Do people get seasick?
Rarely. The ICONA Yacht is very stable and cruises in protected inland waterways. However, if you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking any necessary precautions before boarding.
Is it a speedboat?
While the yacht is powerful, our cruises are designed to provide a relaxing, leisurely experience so everyone can enjoy their time on the water.
Is the crew experienced?
Absolutely. Our captains have over 25 years of commercial boating experience and have spent their lives boating the local waterways. Safety, professionalism, and local knowledge are at the heart of every cruise.
Are there restrooms on board?
Yes. The yacht has two onboard restrooms.
Because we are on a boat and not connected to a sewer system, we ask that guests flush only the toilet paper provided. Please use the waste baskets for paper towels and any other items.
Can we bring coolers?
No. Outside coolers are not permitted on board.
Is ice provided?
Yes. Ice is provided with all pre-ordered beverages.
What happens if it rains?
The decision to sail is made by the captain and management based on weather conditions.
Light rain—what we like to call liquid sunshine—usually will not affect the cruise. However, heavy rain, lightning, or high winds may require us to reschedule for everyone’s safety.
Are life jackets available?
Yes. We carry U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets for every passenger, along with all required safety equipment. Our crew regularly conducts safety training and emergency drills.
Can we swim?
Swimming is available only on cruises where the swimming option was selected during booking.
To ensure everyone’s safety:
Swimming cruises are limited to 20 guests.
Guests must bring their own U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
The captain will select the swimming location.
No jumping from the boat.
No swimming while under the influence of alcohol.
No horseplay.
Please bring your own towels.
What type of shoes should we wear?
Comfortable, non-marking shoes, sandals, or flip-flops with good traction are recommended. High heels and hard dark-soled shoes can damage or mark the deck. Since decks may be damp, footwear with good grip is encouraged.
Can we play our own music?
Yes. Private charters include access to our Bluetooth sound system, so you’re welcome to play your own music.
For public cruises, we provide family-friendly yacht-style background music.
Should we tip the crew?
Gratuities are never required but are always appreciated.
Our captain and crew work hard to provide a safe, clean, and memorable experience. As in the restaurant and hospitality industry, 15–20% is customary for excellent service.
Gratuities may be added during online booking, paid in cash, or sent via Venmo. Thank you for your generosity and support!
